Chiwon Hwang

B.S. Chemistry, Seoul National University, 2020

Chiwon Hwang was born in Seoul, South Korea. During his undergraduate at Seoul National University, he studied divergent synthesis of a hydroindoline core with Professor Seung Bum Park and then total synthesis of a natural product with Professor Hong Geun Lee. While he was doing his two-year military service in a hospital and watching patients there, he began to dream of developing new drug compounds with higher efficacy and less side effects. The dream ultimately led him to join the White Group and start studying C-H amination to streamline synthesis of drug compounds.
