Devon Fontaine
B.A. Chemistry, Clark University, 2019
Devon was born and raised in western Massachusetts (the forgotten realms) in a small town called Monson. At Monson High School, he developed a passion for chemistry and decided to pursue a B.A. in chemistry at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. There, he worked with Professor Charles Jakobsche on the synthesis of an amyloid fibril binding molecule that could bind to the fibrils responsible for Alzheimer's disease and certain types of diabetes. After that, he decided to take a few years off and work in the kilogram-scale lab of a process chemistry facility, quickly deciding that a Ph.D. was the way to go. Since moving halfway across the country and joining the White Group, Devon has been working on the development of the sulfoxide-oxazoline ligand for the coupling of complex nucleophiles and terminal alkenes.
