Lynda was raised in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg. She grew up competing in swimming and water polo at Schaumburg High and later swam for the Calvin University Knights, where she graduated with a bachelor's in chemistry. She studied under Professor Chad Tatko, beginning with research on the local watershed quality. Later in her college career, she went on to synthesize unnatural fluorescent amino acids as an endogenous method for protein tracking and developed her desire to pursue organic chemistry. Lynda likes spending time outdoors, and travels with her family to national parks and other wilderness attractions. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her friends (especially at Culvers), keep up with her family's antics, and take care of her fluffy kitty Elle.
